“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” -Carl Jung
Lifting the Iceberg is a wide-ranging psychology podcast hosted by Tyler James Burger that uses art as a window to the mind, in order to explore subjects surround consciousness, creativity and mystical experience. Each episode of the LTI podcast explores one subject, an “iceberg”, if you will; whether it be an idea, a book, or a piece of art. This subject serves as the focal point of the discussion, concisely exploring what might otherwise be left unexplored.
Tyler James Burger is a parkour athlete, teacher, writer, and podcaster living in New York City. Since childhood, Tyler has had an interest in the intersection between science, religion, creative expression and the mystical experience. This has led Tyler to studying psychology in an academic setting, exploring movement and creativity as a spiritual practice, drinking ayahuasca in the Peruvian Amazon, and walking 900 kilometers from western France to the west coast of Spain on the ancient Catholic pilgrimage, El Camino de Santiago.
Tyler earned his BA from Temple University in Psychology with a focus in Quantum Evolutionary Psychology, with a minor in writing. Alongside teaching parkour in New York City and hosting the LTI podcast, Tyler is also writing his first book, The Three-Sided River, based on his experiences on El Camino de Santiago.
